Great Burial Reef® Terms and Conditions

Please review these terms and conditions carefully as they are the terms of sale that govern your purchase from Great Burial Reef®. They set out your rights and obligations with respect to your purchases, including limitations and exclusions, such as those in our product warranties. Your purchase from our company constitutes your agreement that these policies apply to the order, so be certain you understand them before you place your order with us.

Hours of Operation

Our Customer Support Center is available to you from 9 AM - 9 PM, 7 days a week at (941) 548-6123. All of our contact information is listed on the "Contact" page on our website. If you wish to check the status of your Great Burial Reef® order at anytime, give us a call or send us an email, and we'll happily confirm your order details.

Payment Methods

Great Burial Reef® accepts Visa and MasterCard credit or debit card payments through Google Checkout®, personal checks, money orders, and wire transfers. When you purchase by credit card, your credit card information must be entered online through Google Checkout® and will not at any time be provided directly to Great Burial Reef®. Final payment for Family Witness Services must be made no later than 72 hours prior to departure date.

Sales Tax

In addition to the price of your purchases, we may charge you sales tax based on your shipping address and the sales tax rate in effect at the time your order is billed. Our office is located in Pinellas County, Florida, and the current sales tax rate is 7%. Please note that the purchase of most funeral goods and services are exempt from sales tax, and your purchase documents will accurately reflect those exemptions for applicable products and services.

Shipping Options

We proudly ship the 60 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™ using FedEx® Ground shipping anywhere in the continental United States is free, and we offer special shipping rates to Alaska, Hawaii, and international locations. Second Day Air Service and Next Day Air Service for urgent orders is available.

Order Processing

The estimated shipment date on your order is based on product availability, payment processing time, and our own internal shipping procedures, and does not include transit time to your shipping address. Orders are processed daily, and we ship via FedEx® during their published operational schedule.

Product Pricing

The prices for our products and services are posted on our website. While we endeavor to keep our pricing current, we reserve the right to change pricing without notice. If you place an order with us, you will be charged the current product price as posted on the website.

Product Warranties

Our products are designed to last for generations, and have been extensively tested for strength and durability for ocean placement. Our 600 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™ has been approved for use by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission, the EPA, and the Army Corps of Engineers, and several other governmental agencies. Great Burial Reef® is authorized to place the 600 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™ in multiple ocean locations through permits from these same entities. Great Burial Reef® performs ocean placements with reasonable effort to ensure they will not be affected by storms or maritime activities. Once the Ocean Cremation Urn™ is correctly placed on the ocean floor, Great Burial Reef® will not be held responsible for any damage or destruction caused by acts of man, nature, or maritime activities.

Defective Items

Our products are hand-cast from natural concrete and carefully packaged to ensure safe delivery to your doorstep. If the product you purchase becomes damaged through shipment, we will happily exchange it at our expense provided you return the damaged product to our warehouse.

Return and Refund Policies

Your absolute satisfaction is our goal and our guarantee. For purchases of the 60 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™, we will happily refund your purchase price less shipping for any urn you purchase that is returned to our warehouse in its original condition and original packaging within a reasonable time from purchase. A nominal restocking fee may apply. 600 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™ and Family Witness Service purchases may be cancelled and refunded any time before your loved one's remains are sealed inside, subject to administrative costs. Please call our Customer Care Center if you wish to discuss a return or refund.

Ocean Placement Services

Ocean placements are completed in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. Great Burial Reef® only provides ocean placement services for the 600 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™. Ocean placements are irreversible and final. We will confirm the service date in advance. We reserve the right to postpone or reschedule an ocean burial in the event of inclement weather or other operational issues. You will be notified immediately if the ocean placement date changes, and every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate your response.

Optional Family Witness Services

You or a family designee are not required to witness the ocean placement of the Ocean Cremation Urn you purchase. If you do not participate, your ocean placement will be performed from the port of call of your choosing or in Sarasota, FL if you have not indicated a preference. Ocean placements will be performed at a time of our choosing, but always within 30 business days of receiving your loved one's cremated remains. Upon completion of your ocean placement, we will mail you a Certificate of Ocean Placement detailing the date, time, depth, and precise GPS coordinates of your loved one's final resting place.

Placement Guidelines for the 60 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™

Our 60 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™ is designed primarily for ocean placement, but may also be suitable for freshwater and land placements. Because the 60 pound Ocean Cremation Urn™ is designed as a “do it yourself” memorial, Great Burial Reef® does not perform ocean placements of the 60 pound urn in any of its reef locations or elsewhere. Great Burial Reef® will not be held liable or responsible for any damage or destruction caused by acts of man, nature, or maritime activities, nor will Great Burial Reef® be held liable in any way for Ocean Cremation Urns™ placed illegally or irresponsibly. We strongly recommend that prior to final placement, you consult local governmental agencies for laws and/or regulations in your specific area regarding placement of cremated remains. The information provided on this website constitutes only a guideline to assist you in the proper and legal placement of an Ocean Cremation Urn™. Nothing obtained in this website should be misconstrued to be a grant of permission or authority from Great Burial Reef® to place an Ocean Cremation Urn™ at a location which would be in violation of any local, state or federal laws, or which would violate the rights of any person or entity. When you choose to place your Ocean Cremation Urn™, you do so at your own risk and may be held responsible for all violations of any applicable law. Great Burial Reef ® will not be held responsible for any violations or losses suffered due to improper or illegal placement of an Ocean Cremation Urn™.

Other Terms & Conditions

Great Burial Reef® is not responsible for typographical errors. We reserve the right to cancel any order you have placed if there was a typographical error on the Great Burial Reef® website concerning the pricing or availability of any item that you ordered when you placed your order. We reserve the right to change the terms and conditions of sale at any time. We may make changes to any products or services offered through our company or to the applicable prices for any such products or services, at any time, without notice. We reserve the right to do any of the following, at any time, without notice: (1) to modify, suspend or terminate operation of or access to the Great Burial Reef® website for any reason; (2) to modify or change the website, or any portion of the website, and any applicable policies or terms; and (3) to interrupt the operation of the Great Burial Reef® website, as necessary, to perform routine or non-routine maintenance, error correction, or other changes. To the extent possible by law, all sales at the Great Burial Reef® Website are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and Pinellas County, without giving effect to its conflict of law provisions. Great Burial Reef® is a registered U.S. trademark. “Ocean Cremation Urn”™ and “Be part of something special."™ are product and service trade names belonging to Great Burial Reef, Inc. and are protected by U.S. trademark laws. The designs of the Great Burial Reef Ocean Cremation Urns™ are patent-pending and protected by U.S. patent laws. “Great Burial Reef” ® is a federally registered trademark. The contents of the Great Burial Reef® website and all printed materials are protected by U.S. and International copyright laws.
