Grief Resources
Losing someone you love is difficult and can be very painful. Everyone grieves differently, each in his or her own way. Families grieve together differently as well. Grief involves a range of emotions and stages, and there is no simple formula to help you cope with your loss. Over the years, we’ve encountered several groups and communities of supportive, caring, and special people that might be able to help you begin your healing journey. While the following are not all-encompassing, we hope they’ll start you on the right track.
Grief Net
www.griefnet.org
GriefNet is a large online community of support groups (over 50 of them) that provide an integrated approach to grief support, offering support for grief of many kinds. The site and its community are highly interactive, and there is a support group for nearly every unique type of loss.
Grief Share
www.griefshare.org
GriefShare is a grief recovery support group in which you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. The site includes the option for daily support emails, and a large group of incredibly caring people who can help.
Kara-Grief
www.kara-grief.org
Kara is the gothic root to the word “care.” Kara provides support to people of all ages on their journey through grief so they can move forward with renewed hope and meaning. Kara is staffed entirely by volunteers who have been there… and can help.
Other Resources
There are as many ways to grieve as there are fish in the sea. While the communities above have longstanding traditions of being supportive and helpful, we encourage you to seek your own solace in your own way. Consider talking to clergy, friends, relatives… a kind ear and thoughtful heart will always start you on the right track. Just know this – regardless of how you choose to express your grief (or not), you’re not alone. If there is ever anything we can do, just contact us. We’re here to help.
